Financial Analyst


Are you analytical? Do you want to use your financial knowhow to help navigate and solve complex challenges? Would you like to help venture backed startups make sound financial and strategic decisions that drive sustainable and scalable business growth for an early stage startup? Then we want you!

We are in search of a Financial Analyst with an entrepreneurial approach to their craft. This position will provide part time CFO/finance support for our clients (the role itself is full time working with 4-7 of our start up clients). You will have the opportunity for a multitude of exciting and challenging experiences, working very closely with our CFOs and Controllers, getting trained on all of the tricks of the trade to promote professional advancement.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
  • Oversee and manage the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modeling tools
  • Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
  • Quarterly and monthly financial reports
  • Implement and work with a Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboard reports
  • Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in marketing programs, menu pricing, new store rollouts, as well as new projects
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
  • Supporting senior management team and department heads with in-depth analysis
  • Prepare presentations to Board of Directors and senior management team


Qualifications:

  • 3+ year experience in Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Proven understanding of GAAP in constructing financial modeling and reports
  • Strong leadership skills required
  • Excellent verbal and writing abilities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated. Highly detail-oriented; ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity

Controller


ROLE AND DUTIES:

  • Establish, monitor and enforce a comprehensive set of internal controls, establish policies and procedures around accounting and financial related issues
  • Establish GAAP accounting standards and procedures
  • Prepare various monthly and annual corporate financial reports for clients including consolidated financial statements, income statements, balance sheet statements, cash-flow statements, etc.
  • Help oversee external audits of client accounting books as required by board or bank mandates and maintain due diligence ready records
  • Ensure that financial reports comply with GAAP and established accounting standards and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics required
  • Five years of experience as a Senior Accountant or two years as a Controller
  • Strong experience in cost/inventory accounting and revenue recognition and/or SAAS accounting and revenue recognition
  • Experience of accounting for consolidations and other business combinations
  • Experience with international and multi-currency accounting
  • Experience working with startups or smaller companies
  • Must be comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environments - this role will have 5-10 clients at any given time, depending on the size of the client.
  • Comprehensive experience on supporting external and internal audit, due diligence, as well as income tax return matters.

PREFERRED:

  • CPA or CPA training
  • Consulting Experience
  • Experience in purchase accounting

Work will be done primarily in our San Mateo office with occasional client visits to various San Francisco Bay Area locations.

Senior Accountant

We are in search of a Senior Accountant with an entrepreneurial approach to their craft. This position will provide part-time accounting support for many of our clients (the role itself is full time working with 4-7 of our start-up clients). You will work very closely with our Controllers and Staff Accountants in helping our clients establish their accounting practices and taking their financials to the next level.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Controller and Staff Accountant on the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and month-end bank/GL account reconciliations and generate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Work on all aspects of critical accounting operations including A/P, A/R, Rev Rec, COGS calculations, consolidations, payroll and other GL accounting duties
  • Work closely with Controller to establish and implement corporate accounting policies on behalf of our clients
  • Identify opportunities for and assist in the design, documentation, and implementation of process improvements and increased controls to support client's growing operation.
  • Lead and Manage Sales/Use Tax administrations as needed on behalf of our clients

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Business preferred
  • Deep understanding of accrual basis accounting
  • Strong Excel and other MS Office Skills
  • Ability to run the month-end closing process and review financials
  • QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite and/or Bill.com/Expensify skills preferred
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and in teams
  • Willing to travel within the Bay Area for client meetings
  • Willingness to take on responsibility and grow; self-starter, team player
  • Proactive in taking on responsibility with a can-do attitude
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize on tasks

Accountant


We’re looking for strong full-time accountants with an entrepreneurial spirit. Staff Accountant

HR Generalist

We are in search of an HR Generalist with an entrepreneurial approach to their craft. This position will provide HR and recruiting support to our clients. It’s a great opportunity for someone with a two or three years of experience who is looking for a new set of challenges.

The position, based out of our office in San Mateo, will work with our clients (located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area) and be a member of our team. Ideal candidates are professional, have great interpersonal and project management skills and have the ability to work in a fast paced, consulting environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruiting: work with hiring managers to help shape duties/roles and write job descriptions, candidate sourcing, conduct effective prescreens and interviews, give valuable input into selecting the best candidate for hire
  • Payroll: process payroll (ADP, Gusto, Paychex, Paylocity, etc), maintain records in the HRIS system including deductions/direct deposits/employee changes.
  • Benefits: Maintain insurance benefits packages for team members.
  • Onboarding: Serve as the liaison for integrating new hires into the organization and their new position.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Administer HR policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of Human Resource experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Recruiting and payroll experience required
